Course Overview
The Level 1 Introductory Certificate and Diploma in Sport and Leisure are designed to provide a basic introduction to working in the Sport & Leisure sector and offer opportunities for accessing further study, such as a BTEC First qualification.
In addition we offer a varied sports enrichment programme.

Who The Course is for
This course is for students who want to study an academic programme to broaden their specialist focus, either to prepare for employment or to progress to a higher level course.
Course Content

> Working in Sport and Leisure
> The Healthy Body
Plus 2 Personal Skills Units and 3 Vocational Option Units.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, but a reasonable standard of English and maths is expected, plus the enthusiasm and commitment to succeed. All candidates will be interviewed to assess their eligibility for the course.
West Lancashire College will also accept credits previously gained through the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
Learning & Assessment Methods
You will be continuously assessed throughout the course by competing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units and grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Progression Opportunities
If you achieve an overall merit you will be able to progress onto the BTEC First Diploma in Sport.
Career Opportunities
With further training or study, learners may progress into sport related careers.. A BTEC Introductory Diploma gives a good preparation for both employment and more advanced courses such as BTEC First Diploma in Sport.

If you are 16-18 years old you do not have to pay course tuition fees*.
