Who The Course is for
This course is for anyone who wishes to gain a vocational qualification in Performing Arts. It is ideal if you are straight from school or have been out of education for a while and is particularly suitable if you don’t have many qualifications but want to progress your career.

• have a passionate commitment to performing
• have a good level of stamina
Course Content
This course aims to build your personal confidence and introduce you to performance skills. Modules on this course will include ones on:
> acting
> singing
> performing in musical theatre
> dance
You will take part in several performances throughout the year to paying audiences which integrate the units and provide a vocationally relevant experience. This course is geared towards learners progressing onto a Level 2 course.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, but a reasonable standard of English and maths is expected, plus the enthusiasm and commitment to succeed. All candidates will be interviewed to assess their eligibility for the course.
Uniform (This needs to be changed on all PA courses to read)
All learners are expected to wear suitable clothing which will include a West Lancashire College Performing Arts department hoodie (you will be given instructions on how to purchase this) plus black jogging pants / jazz pants / tracksuit bottoms. Learners will also require suitable footwear (jazz shoes).
West Lancashire College will also accept credits previously gained through the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
Learning & Assessment Methods
All units are assessed, and graded and an overall grade (Pass, Merit or Distinction) for the qualification is awarded.

The course aims to help students progress to the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts.
