Adults already working in the Health & Social Care industry.
Course Content
Mandatory Units
• Promote effective communication for and about individuals
• Promote, monitor and maintain health, safety and security in the working environment
• Reflect on and develop your practice
Two Qualification Routes
• Health and Social Care
• Adults
• Health and Social Care Children and Young People
Candidates also take 1 mandatory unit and 4 optional units from either of the above qualification routes, dependent on their job role.
Entry Requirements
Candidates must be employed in a suitable role, be able to meet the standards of the qualification and be capable of achieving Functional Skills at the required level.
West Lancashire College will also accept credits previously gained through the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
Learning & Assessment Methods
Assessment is mainly carried out in the workplace by trained assessors to suit the employee/er needs.
Programme Duration = 36 weeks
Workshops in college/workplace = 8 weeks
Class size minimum = 6 learners
Work Place assessment and observations = 18-24 hours (dependent on prior learning)
Assessor contact = fortnightly

Health & Social Care NVQ Level 3.
Progression Opportunities
To progress to a management qualification if job role and ability allow.

Fully funded if candidates DO NOT hold a level 2, part government funding may be available for additional qualifications - £450 if part-funded.
