Course Overview
This Level 3 course has been designed to provide you with a specialist work-related qualification in a range of sectors. The units have been developed to provide preparation for employment and/or provide career development opportunities for those already in work. This is also a recognised qualification to gain entry to university.

Who The Course is for
If you see yourself thriving in the business environment, want to lead others or even run your own business, then we may have the course for you. Successful students tend to:

Course Content
You will study a range of eighteen units including:
• Introduction to Marketing
• Exploring Business Activity
• Investigating Business Resources
• Effective People, Communication and Information
And four specialist units:
> Understanding Business Ethics
> Introduction to Accounting
> Understanding Retailing
> Understanding Employment Law
> Managing a Business Event
Entry Requirements
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, (preferably including English and/or maths); or a GNVQ Intermediate / First Diploma / National Certificate in a related subject. Candidates will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course. We are interested in your enthusiasm and commitment to succeed.
West Lancashire College will also accept credits previously gained through the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF).
Learning & Assessment Methods
You will be continuously assessed throughout the course by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units and grades awarded are Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Progression Opportunities
On completion of the Level 3 Diploma, students can progress onto a relevant degree at a Higher Education institute. If you successfully complete a level 3 course at West Lancashire College we will offer you a place on an appropriate Foundation Degree at Newcastle College (subject to satisfactory interview or course audition).
Career Opportunities
On successful completion of the course, you may progress to university to study course such as a degree in Business Management, Business Studies, Accountancy or Marketing. You may also choose to progress into employment in a business related area.
