Student Union's Debut Meeting With Principal

Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College’s newly elected Students Union have held their very first meeting with the principle of the college, Louise Dawson. The meeting was a first chance for Paris Sharples, Student Union President, and her elected team to discuss ideas and plans for the forthcoming year with the principle and they are delighted with the outcome, describing it as both ‘informative’ and ‘promising’.

The Students Union, assisted by James Pearson of Student Services will have a busy year ahead of them from September as they will be supporting national campaigns and representing the students of the college on local issues in and around Skelmersdale & Ormskirk. One thing that is on the agenda is an awards ball for next year, which will be one of many projects for the new events officer, Hannah Silcock to arrange.

Principle Louise Dawson described the opportunity for the SU as a ‘fantastic achievement for the students’.
She commented, “It gives them the opportunity to show future employers that they have the transferable skills needed in such a competitive work environment.”

It will be interesting to see how Paris, Hannah and treasurer Stanislavs (Stan) Lublinskis rise to the challenges thrown at them over the next year.
