Family Charity Fun Day Success

Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College, in conjunction with Skelmersdale United recently held a day of charity and family fun on Saturday 14 November 2009 in which ‘The Skem’ pitted their wits against FC Halifax town in a top of the table clash in the Unibond Division 1 North. The feisty encounter ended, full with controversy ended up in a 2-2 score line.

Off the pitch, the bumper crowd of 927 were entertained with various events taking place such as face painting, the Glenburn High School Samba Band, a raffle in which a flat screen television was won, a cross bar challenge and a junior ‘beat the penguin’ penalty shoot-out!

Several members of college staff were also on hand to offer information on courses beginning at the college in January and September, whilst Andy Clayton (recently returned from Jordan Trek), Liz Peters and Roy Nickson collected money for the Marie Curie Charity.

The charity day proved to be a huge success with over £500 raised for Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Skelmersdale United Football Club Junior Academy.
