Students and staff from Skelmersdale and Ormskirk College joined forces with colleges around the country last week to take part in College + Community as part of the Colleges Week celebrations.
Skelmersdale and Ormskirk College joined in by attending Skelmersdale United FC Fun Day and also holding an Open Event at the Ormskirk Campus to showcase their skills, demonstrate the range of opportunities available at college and offer advice and guidance to people considering education and training. They are also hosting an anti-bullying conference this week.
College + Community was a country-wide programme where teams of college students and staff went into their local community to troubleshoot problems and demonstrate the opportunities available at colleges.
Louise Dawson, Principal, Skelmersdale & Ormskirk College, commented “Colleges week has provided us with additional opportunities to engage with our community and demonstrate the range of opportunities available at our college. It has been great to be a part of events that are right in the heart of our local communities.”
Colleges Week took place 9-15 November, to celebrate the opportunities colleges create for individuals, businesses and Britain. Their world class workforce nurtures talent, helping people progress and businesses to build for the future. Colleges Week is being co-ordinated and organised by the Association of Colleges (AoC) and the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS).
